Privacy & Cookie Policy

Noor Tutoring Last updated: 6th October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Noor Tutoring collects when you use our website and services, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it. We've tried to keep it clear and readable rather than burying the important parts in jargon. If anything is unclear, you are always welcome to get in touch using the details at the end.

Because most of the people signing up are parents and guardians, references to "you" and "your information" mean the adult account holder, unless stated otherwise. References to "your child" mean the student enrolled in our classes.

Who is responsible for your information

The data controller is:

Noor Tutoring

This means Noor Tutoring decides what information is collected and how it is used, and is responsible for keeping it safe. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

What information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact and account details — your name, email address, phone number, home address and relationship to the student, and any details you give when you register, book a class, or get in touch.
  • Emergency contact details — the name, relationship and telephone number of someone we can reach if you are unavailable during a class.
  • Information about your child — their name, date of birth, year group, current school, target schools or exam board, and the subjects they are enrolled in.
  • Learning records — attendance, assessment results, teaching notes, samples of written work, and the progress feedback we send you.
  • Health and additional needs — any medical conditions, allergies, medication, special educational needs, diagnoses or exam access arrangements you choose to tell us about on the Parental Consent Form, so we can support your child safely. This is special category information, and we treat it with extra care.
  • Payment information — handled securely by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details ourselves.
  • Booking and communication history — the classes you've booked, messages you've sent us, and questions you've asked, so that we can support your child properly.
  • Class audio recordings and transcripts — we make an audio recording of each weekly class, which is transcribed by a third-party transcription service. These are used solely to prepare teaching notes and summaries. Children's first names, voices and contributions may appear in them.
  • Your permissions — whether you have agreed to the optional permissions on the Parental Consent Form, including anonymised work samples, testimonials, and your child's school offer appearing in our published results.
  • Website usage information — collected automatically as you browse, such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at our site. This helps us keep the site working and understand how it's used.

You provide most of this yourself, through our booking process, the Tutoring Agreement and the Parental Consent Form. Usage information is gathered automatically through cookies and similar technologies, explained in the Cookie Policy below.

Where information is required to provide a service — for example, an email address to send you a class link — we'll let you know, and not providing it may mean we can't offer that particular service.

How we use your information, and why we're allowed to

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each way we use your information.

We will only use your information for the purposes described here, or for closely related purposes you would reasonably expect.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you or your child.

Children's information

Our sign-ups, newsletter, and free materials are intended for adults — parents and guardians registering on behalf of a child. By registering, you confirm you are aged 18 or over. We collect information about children only from their parent or guardian, and we handle it with particular care.

  • All communication goes to you. We will not message, email or call your child directly, or connect with them on social media.
  • Other families in class. Classes are live group sessions of up to six students. Other children and their parents can see and hear your child, and see the first name shown on their Zoom display, for the duration of the class. Each family joins from one device only, with the camera on.
  • Recordings stay private. Weekly class recordings and transcripts are never shared with other parents, with absent students, or with any third party beyond the transcription service that processes them for us.
  • Safeguarding. If we are worried that a child is at risk of harm, we will normally talk to you first, but we may share relevant information with children's social care or the police without your consent where we believe a child is at risk.

Revision sessions and masterclasses

From time to time we run larger revision sessions and masterclasses. These may be recorded, and the recording will be shared with everyone who booked to attend or to receive it.

In these sessions students join with their microphones muted and cameras off, and can ask questions through the Zoom chat.

The services we rely on

Like most small businesses, we use a handful of trusted third-party tools to run things. These providers process some of your information on our behalf, under their own privacy policies:

  • Stripe — to take and process payments securely, and to let you manage your subscription.
  • Zoom — to run our live online classes.
  • Google Classroom and Google Workspace — where worksheets, set practice, class notes and feedback are shared with students, and through which we communicate by email.
  • Calendly — to let you book and schedule sessions. Calendly may collect your name, email, and phone number.
  • Otter — to transcribe class audio recordings so we can prepare teaching notes.
  • Brevo — to manage our mailing list and send newsletters and updates.
  • WhatsApp — for a parents' announcement group, where only the tutor posts, and, where you choose to use it, direct messages with the tutor.
  • Instagram and Facebook (Meta) — for our social media presence and any enquiries that come through it.
  • Meta advertising — we may run advertising through Facebook and Instagram. This can involve Meta's tools, such as the Meta Pixel, placing cookies on your device to measure how our ads perform and to show relevant content to people who may be interested in our classes. This only happens with your consent, which you can manage through our cookie preferences.
  • Google Analytics — to understand, in aggregate, how our website is used.

We only share your information with these providers to the extent needed for them to do their job, and we choose providers who take data protection seriously.

We may also share information with professional advisers such as an accountant, or with authorities where the law or a safeguarding concern requires it.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.

Where your information is processed

Your information is handled at our place of work and by the service providers listed above. Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States.

Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your information continues to be protected to a standard equivalent to that required under UK data protection law, for example through the UK-US Data Bridge or approved contractual safeguards.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out above. In practice:

Information How long we keep it
Class audio recordings and transcripts Until teaching notes are complete
Student records, including details, teaching notes, attendance, work samples and feedback While your child is enrolled, and afterwards only for as long as reasonably needed, for example to answer questions or resolve any issues
Health and additional needs information While your child is enrolled
Booking and payment records For as long as you use our services, then for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting
Safeguarding records For as long as required by law and safeguarding guidance
Enquiries from families who don't enrol For as long as needed to respond and follow up
Marketing information Until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop

Keeping your information safe

We take appropriate measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Access is limited to the tutor, who needs it to run our classes and support you.

Every Zoom class uses a waiting room, with each participant admitted individually and a joining link unique to that class. Google Classroom is closed to invited students only, and our providers are chosen with security in mind.

While no system can be completely guaranteed, we take our responsibility here seriously.

We ask you to help too: please keep Zoom links and Google Classroom access within your household, and make sure nobody records, photographs, screenshots or streams any part of a class.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • access the information we hold about you and your child, and receive a copy of it;
  • correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete;
  • request deletion of your information where there's no ongoing reason for us to keep it;
  • object to or restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we're relying on your consent — for example, marketing emails, health information or optional permissions. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it;
  • data portability — to receive your information in a usable format and, where feasible, have it transferred elsewhere; and
  • complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email us or submit a contact form. We'll respond as quickly as we can, and within one month at the latest. There's no charge for this.

If you'd like to raise a concern with the ICO, you can do so at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.

Cookie Policy

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, which we'll refer to together as "cookies", to help it work properly and to understand how it's being used. A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website.

We use the following broad categories:

  • Necessary cookies — needed for the website and essential features, such as secure payment and managing your subscription, to function. These can't be switched off.
  • Functionality cookies — remember your choices and enable basic interactions, such as booking through Calendly.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics, help us measure website traffic and understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.
  • Marketing cookies — where used, help us show relevant content and measure how our advertising performs. This includes Meta's advertising tools, such as the Meta Pixel, when we run ads on Facebook and Instagram.

Some of these cookies are set by us directly, and some by the third-party services listed earlier, for example Stripe, Calendly, Meta, or Google Analytics.

We only set functionality, analytics and marketing cookies once you have agreed to them.

Managing your preferences

Where cookies rely on your consent, you can give or withdraw that consent at any time through the cookie preferences panel on our website.

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you see which cookies have been set, block them, or clear them, though doing so may affect how parts of the site work.

If you'd like to opt out of interest-based advertising more generally, you can do so through YourOnlineChoices, which covers most advertising tools used in the UK and EU.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the revised version here and update the date at the top.

Where changes are significant, or where the law requires it, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know. We'd encourage you to check back occasionally.
